Role purpose
As a Tech Lead at Hublo, you are the technical reference for your team.
You drive technical excellence within your team by designing and delivering robust, maintainable, and scalable systems whether product features, infrastructure, or platform capabilities, while remaining hands-on and close to the code. You help your team make the right trade-offs between technical quality, delivery efficiency, and business impact while ensuring product evolutions are technically sound and achievable. Beyond your team, you contribute to shaping Hublo's engineering standards and practices as an active member of the Communities of Practice.
🎯 Responsibilities & expected results
Technical Leadership & Standards
Own the technical quality, simplicity, and maintainability of your team’s delivery.
Challenge estimates, implementation plans, and make informed trade-offs between code quality, technical debt, and product value delivery.
Contribute to the definition of engineering standards in collaboration with Staff Engineers, other Tech Leads and Communities of Practice.
Ensure these standards are consistently applied and continuously improved within your team.
Stay up to date with modern engineering approaches in your domain, helping your team evolve with the tech landscape.
Review code, architecture, and system design to ensure robustness, reliability, performance, and scalability.
Collaboration & Delivery
Work closely with Product Managers to assess technical feasibility and identify implementation options.
Partner with your Engineering Manager not only on delivery and technical health, but also by providing feedback and insights on engineers’ technical growth and performance.
Provide visibility on risks, dependencies, and technical challenges.
Balance delivery pace with quality and long-term maintainability.
Be a reliable point of contact for technical questions from other teams.
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing
Provide regular technical feedback to engineers and collaborate with your Engineering Manager to support their growth, helping identify skill gaps and development opportunities.
Lead by example through code, technical reviews, and open collaboration.
Actively participate in the Communities of Practice, contributing to shared standards and collective learning.
Promote a culture of feedback inside your team.
Measure of success
Roadmap commitments are delivered on time, with clear visibility on scope and trade-offs.
Engineering decisions balance long-term maintainability with short-term product impact.
The team’s change failure rate decreases, while lead time for changes improves quarter over quarter.
Code quality and system reliability metrics improve, reflected through review turnaround time, defect rates, incident frequency, or other relevant metrics.
Technical standards are consistently applied within the team and shared through Communities of Practice contributions.
The team demonstrates growing technical autonomy and craftsmanship under your guidance.
Feedback from peers and other teams reflects strong collaboration, clarity, and technical reliability.
Skills
Hard Skills
Proven experience as a Senior or Tech Lead engineer in a fast-paced environment.
Strong expertise in software architecture, clean design, and scalable systems within your technical domain.
Hands-on mastery of the core technologies relevant to your domain (e.g., TypeScript/React/Node for product engineering; AWS/Kubernetes/Terraform for infrastructure and platform engineering).
Ability to balance delivery priorities with technical excellence and simplicity.
Solid understanding of production observability, reliability practices, testing strategies, and performance optimization.
Soft Skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills with engineers, PMs, and managers.
Proactive and pragmatic mindset, identifying risks and opportunities before they impact delivery.
Leadership through influence, guiding without authority and fostering trust.
